Paul Budnitz is the brain behind Ello and his pitch about his intelligently crafted social network to the digital world is to deliver an ad-free user experience and thereby reassuring the full-fledged privacy of the customer base from the vicious third parties who buy “you” for money! Paul’s motive is simple, “You are not a Product” to be sold to someone, after all you have your own independence as a netizens of the web. When it comes to digital marketing, Ello is of course an Elloween, after all Social Networks are the prime pivotal elements of the modern digital era for promoting businesses more effectively online. What if Ello takes over the whole of marketing world with customers establishing their base on Ello? There would be no ads, there would be no social media promotions, there would be no ecommerce, and there would be no MARKET base online! So, should the digital marketers be afraid of Elloween?

Although the manifesto by Ello is almost vivid, skyscrapers can’t hold on to the ground unless there’s a well-planned and concretized foundation. Ello may have a tough time to compete the social networking giants and it won’t happen overnight and so does their manifesto which can as well change overnight. It takes massive servers and bandwidth to meet the demands of the user base. Although they have devised a revenue generating model, as the user base expands, sufficient amount of resources are required to pace up. Hence their stance is a win or loss probability and we can’t be certain about their goals.

Unthink (Unthink.com) an anti-Facebook social network launched in October 2011 as a social revolution is now unseen as a dodo. Diaspora (diasp.org) is another anti-Facebook social network launched in 2010. And lots of other social networks are evolving out of the blue with one motive, to challenge with Facebook and any other social network that sells ads. But do they last in the long run is a question to ponder.

Digital Marketing Reigns Forever

No matter how deluged the social networking dominion with innovative social networks emerging out each day, digital marketing still and always reigns thereby reaching miles and bounds in the competitive online market. Even if there’s no social network, there are lots of other alternatives as well. Pay Per Click or PPC campaigns set on the search engine landscape has always been an effective element of success for any business and it will never wane away.

P.S.: It’s too early to judge the complete potentials of Ello which is now currently in beta. We never know what it could turn into unless it comes out from the curtains to stage its values to the world. Anyhow, it’s high time for digital marketers to keep tabs on Ello and brainstorm alternative strategies as reinforcement and enforce them for the better good of the businesses online.
